Visit Guanacaste in Costa Rica!

If you’re looking for a truly spectacular beach to visit while you’re in Costa Rica, check out Guanacaste, specifically Playa Hermosa and Coco. Although the drive can take about four hours, it’s definitely worth checking out, and you could even end up wanting to stay for a couple of days! Either way, head out as early as possible, that way you can avoid the traffic and inevitable morning heat.

Guanacaste is also the mecca of tours, so if you’re looking to go on a boat ride or snorkeling excursion, this is the place to do it! It can get extremely hot around noon, so it’s always a good idea to take a break and maybe grab some lunch or a nap, then head back out to the beach around 3pm. Then, later in the day you’ll enjoy a gorgeous sunset with orange and red tones that sets behind the horizon of the ocean.

After sunset you can head to Aqua Sport for a drink like a beer or a piña colada, but be aware of whether or not they add rum to your drink! If you want to find a less frequented beach, head to the Hilton Papagayo Costa Rica Resort, where you’ll generally find less people. Head down to the beach but instead of going straight down where all of the tanning chairs are, go all the way down to the right where you’ll find a mostly vacant beach!
