Jet Away for a Weekend in Costa Rica

Manuel Antonio Beach

Vacation days in short supply?

Don’t give up on a trip to Costa Rica because of limited time.  Baz Dreisinger describes her long weekend in the country which included jungle, beach and city in just three days!

She chose to fly into Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) and drive the three hours to Manuel Antonio.  She went to enjoy the National Park’s jungle and the white sand beaches.  There was time to hike, zip-line, raft, take a night jungle tour, and even relax.

Dreisinger also spent 24 hours in San Jose for a taste of history at the National Museum, a visit to the Central Market and the opportunity to hang out in the capital’s upcoming hipster night spots.

Visitors can also fly into Liberia’s International Airport (LIR) in Guanacaste.  A long weekend would be sufficient to visit one of the country’s most beautiful beaches, Playa Hermosa, and the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano.  How does horseback riding around an active volcano, relaxing in hot springs and stand-up paddle boarding sound for a weekend away?

To Manuel Antonio and around San Jose, a sedan vehicle is a good choice, but consider an SUV to explore beaches further south.  An SUV is a better option to the Rincon de la Vieja area around Liberia.

Of course, if you have more time, then there’s so much to see and do in Costa Rica!
