Vamos Rent-A-Car is a reliable, successful and growing car rental company, with offices in San Jose (Alajuela) and Liberia, Costa Rica.
We offer well-maintained rental vehicles at competitive rates, backed up by personalized customer service. Vamos was founded on the first-hand experiences gathered from visiting Costa Rica and searching for a rental car. Our business philosophies are based on these expectations. We know what customers want — and we deliver!
Originally there was no intention of starting a car rental business, the aim was to rent a 4x4 vehicle for a longer period of time...and at a fair price! Research was carried out by visiting the offices of the major rental car franchises, comparing rates from the internet, calling individuals who were renting their cars through the classifieds — every avenue was pursued. Yet, none met the benchmark of fair pricing, quality vehicles, and genuine customer service.
We realized that there must be other visitors in need of a rental car who had similar expectations and in hindsight, this was the seed that started the present concept. As of the beginning of 2019, Vamos operates a fleet of 288 rental vehicles (we are adding more new cars later this year), and an ever-growing number of repeat clientele who we know by name. Vamos' founder, George, was charmed by his first impression of Costa Rica. The peaceful and economically stable country populated by happy people seemed the perfect place for a successful and happy life.

As part of this philosophy, we are committed to unlimited mileage and no hidden fees — the price quoted is the price you pay. Unlike other rental companies, we add no fees at the counter; such as airport taxes, additional driver fees or other miscellaneous charges.
So far, this concept is working...so well in fact that several of our competitors have "adopted" our business model, but they haven’t duplicated our level of free perks or customer service!
When we started our free perks, it seems as if we had became the running joke on TripAdvisor. People questioned why someone should choose a relatively obscure local company over a known corporate brand, especially when the quotes were close. A free cooler, or any of the other items, didn’t seem like a big enough reason to switch…and maybe they were right — on the surface.
Choosing Vamos also gives you an option to receive a cell phone with every rental, complementary for you to contact us for any assistance. Should you wish to use the supplied cell phone for personal calls within Costa Rica, that option is also.
Beyond peace of mind, we will also supply safety and comfort with a clean baby seat (why fly with one?), a cooler to keep your beverages cold (saving Costa Rica’s natural beauty from discarded styrofoam) and even a storage roof rack (creating more passenger room where the air-conditioner is blasting). Your rental vehicle can be fitted with any or all of these free extras, thus saving yourself time, money and hassle for an even better trip.
